Have Year 4 got what it takes to become a Roman Soldier?
Today, as part of our Romans topic, we looked at what it takes to be a Roman Soldier. We looked at Roman armour and discussed how hard the soldiers must have worked to carry such a heavy weight into battle. We were lucky enough to see some authentic replica roman armour, some of us had the opportunity to try some of it on for size. It was incredibly heavy and it must have been unbearably hot carrying such a heavy weight. We also looked at the different skills Roman soldiers needed to have such as javelin throwing, swimming across fast flowing rivers (still in full armour) and fighting with a sword and shield. Next, we pretended to be citizens of ancient Rome and we applied for the job of Roman Solider.
Do you think we’ve got what it takes?
